How Does Student Hustle Work?

Student Hustle is a school community-based app that connects high school students with same-school community adults and families, facilitating a variety of relevant age-appropriate jobs, including babysitting, academic tutoring, and athletic training. High school students create their profile that reflects their skill set, receive relevant job offers via the Student Hustle app, and accept opportunities that match their skill set and availability.

Who Can Participate in Student Hustle?
Student Hustle operates on a school-by-school basis. All students attending the same high school (grades 9-12) are eligible to create their profile in order to begin receiving job offers that are relevant to their skill set. Adults in the same school community are eligible to post job offers to these high school students. Adults outside of a school community are not able to collaborate with or access student profiles of a different school community.

What Types of Jobs are Available?
Over 50 categories of jobs including babysitting, pet sitting, driver, power washing, yard work, academic tutoring, and athletic training are available. Job offers are presented only to students that have indicated the appropriate skill set, ensuring students only receive job offers that are relevant to them.

How are Job Offers Posted by Adults and Accepted by Students?
Adults post their job offer via the Student Hustle App. Adults have a variety of filters available to target specific student groups, or even individual students, via their Favorites list. All qualified students immediately receive a notification on their phone indicating a job is available. Students are then able to review the job offer’s details including date/time/description/pay rate/adult name to decide if they would like to accept the job. Once a student accepts a job, it is no longer available to other qualified students.

How Much Does Student Hustle Cost to Use?

Student Hustle is free for all high school students to use. Adults pay an annual subscription fee of $25 for full access to the app and the ability to post unlimited job offers. Student Hustle does not take any percentage or additional fee related to the payment between the adult and student for completed jobs.

What Does Student Hustle Do to Ensure Student Safety?

Student safety is the number one priority at Student Hustle, and a number of safety features have been included in the app:

  • Upon sign up, all student and adult profiles are confirmed against the school directory.
  • No student contact information is available to an adult until after the student accepts a job offer from the adult.
  • Each time a student accepts a job offer their parent is emailed all job details so that the parent always knows where their student is scheduled to be, at what time, with which school community adult/family, and the job description.
  • Student Hustle employs a ‘verified’ status for both student and adult profiles. To become verified a student or adult must have their identity confirmed by three previously-verified individuals or directly by the Student Hustle Ambassador. A check next to a profile name indicates verified status.
  • Student Hustle provides a Safety Best Practices document to all students each time they accept a job offer.

Student Hustle at Your School

Student Hustle seeks student ‘Ambassadors’ in schools across the United States that are interested in bringing the Student Hustle platform to their school community. These high school students champion the Student Hustle concept to their fellow high school students and their school community.

What are the Responsibilities of an Ambassador?
Ambassadors are the school-specific champion and representative of Student Hustle. These students are expected to use their community relationships (with other students and families) to promote the Student Hustle platform and spark engagement throughout their school network. Ambassadors have additional expectations regarding marketing, data organization, and meeting subscription target numbers.

What Support Does an Ambassador Receive from Student Hustle?
Student Hustle provides each Ambassador with a comprehensive and robust blueprint to effectively launch the Student Hustle concept to a school community. Virtually all details regarding marketing, correspondence, and data support are provided. Student Hustle also provides unlimited use of the app, app maintenance, insurance, newsletter, and more.

About Us

Student Hustle was created by a brother-sister duo (Weston & Caroline) in Austin, Texas. As students, they recognized the value in supporting their school community while also earning money for expenses like gas, food, weekend plans, travel, sports, and time with friends.

They noticed that families in their school community wanted to hire high school students for all sorts of jobs, but didn’t have an effective way to communicate these opportunities. At the same time, they and their friends wanted to show their interest and enthusiasm to families in the school community, but lacked a platform to do so.

Student Hustle was born from the idea of creating a unique and school-specific platform to bring their community together through efficient communication and service.
